Thinking of You

Wow it's been almost a week where has the time gone? I will be honest yesterday I spent the day checking out all the new CHA releases via YouTube. Very exciting. I think I'm most excited about all the new Lawn Fawn stamps. A video showing all their new releases can be found here.

Two Peas in a Bucket has some other great video's with all the releases which you can check out here. Since I'm talking about Two Peas in a Bucket a couple of weeks ago they started a new video series called the Adventures of Glitter Girl. It's been amazing and extremely helpful I highly recommend it. It's geared towards scrapbook pages however the principals are the same.

Here is a quick and simple card I made for someone and like always I didn't get it the mail in time. She'll never know it was for her. I thought I would share it here anyways:

I used Blissful Botanicals and colored with Copic's. Nice and simple. :D As the current challenge for Simon Says Stamp is anything goes I'm gonna enter it.

Just a card

Nothing super fancy today.. a super quick card and post to match. I spent last night cleaning and reorganizing my work area. Now that I kinda know what I'm doing I needed to rearrange a few things. This is a card I though together pretty fast with stuff I had lying around:

Not the best of photographs, ironic since the hubby took the picture. Those shadows drive me nuts.... anywho I digress. I used water color paper and distress inks with the impression obsession paisley stamp.  Through a flower on there ribbon. Stamped thanks and bam done!

Simon Says Stamp challenge this week is anything goes. I encourage you to enter what ever you have as it's a random drawing for $50 via gift card. Good Luck.

Naked edges

A woman at my moms church randomly stopped by a few weeks ago to give my mother this amazing quilt she made just for her:

"Your never given enough" she said. It's a stunning rag quilt. The colors are just amazing. I had to make her a special card.

I was hoping to recreate the ragged edges however my patience was wearing thin so I gave up and left it as is. The card stock is made from Hero Arts layering paper. And the background flower was stamped with Jenni Bowlin ink.. don't quote me on that. Here's the rest of the stuff:

I've been wanting to make a rag quilt for awhile now. Do you have any pointers/tips you could share?

CFC #36

Two weeks in a row :D Happy Days.

This weeks theme is black and white. At first I was in a bit of shock.. then I embraced it! I adored doing this card.. not to self do more black and white cards:

I started off with this "magic" paper.. I can't for the life of me remember what it's called. You stamp with versamark on it, let dry then stamp a colored image over it. The versamark is supposed to resist the image. Nancy my friend and teacher showed us the magic of this paper in one of our classes. I stamped the top left with versamark fine black ink and it gave that beautiful image but it didn't work. So I switched to Memento black ink for the bottom right flower.. which is why it's a bit more gray. It's better however you can't really see it. I'll have to play around with this stuff a little more er a lot more. lol

Here's most of what I used:

I'd like to send birthday wishes to my amazing Mother. She's 70 today. :D Happy Birthday Mom your the best!

Domi's Sketch

Happy Saturday! I had some extra time this week and decided to take part in a Simon Says Stamp challengeDomi's Sketch.  For some reason I find sketches hard. Here is her sketch:

And here is my card:

I love the colors. Those flowers turned out really cool.

In the background there's a Hero Arts text stamp. Flowers are Bold blooms from Hero Arts. The yellow was stamped with a very light color of memento ink and then colored with Copics. The red and green flower stamped with memento, cottage ivy and lady bug. I don't remember where I got the butterfly's, which were colored with alcohol ink. The gems are Hero Arts. The lace is from a local Japanese market..... I just adore that lace. I'll have to get some more next time time I'm there.

Happy crafting!

A baby boy

I have a super quick card for ya. I'm help host a baby shower later this month and decided I should make mom to be a card.

The stamps are from Fiskars the paper is from Authentique Journey paper pack. Man do I love this paper. I got it at Pages from the Heart when I was their last month to check out the Hero Arts catalog.

Those of you who know me are like what?! Your helping with a shower? I've clearly stated I don't like baby showers. It's not the shower per say it the lame games that make me feel like a total idiot. I don't find any joy in trying to figure out which melted candy bar is which. That's really disgusting. I do love hanging out, eating yummy snacks and playing more intellectual games. I have no idea what sort of games will be played at this shower but I know the food will be awesome....I roped Dk in. :D

I hope you have a great weekend planned.

What's this winter you speak of?

Woo Hoo! I'm finally able to enter my favorites of favs contests... .Lawnscaping. I haven't played in ages. That life stuff kept getting in the way. I was super excited when Monday came around with it's new challenge.. I had the day off. Then I saw the challenge:

Winter?! What's that? I was born and raised in So Cal. I've read about snow, you see it on tv and stuff. Seriously one can count the number of times I've been in the snow, off the top of my head it's less than 10. I struggled with this. I don't truly know winter nor do I own any truly winter stamps. I made do with what I had and came up with this.

Let me just say I am adoring that pattern paper. Here's almost everything I used:

I used memento pens to outline the birds and the clouds same colors as above. I also sanded the polka dot.. no idea where I got them.

CFC #35

Yesterday was a holiday for some of us here in the USA it was Martin Luther King day. One of his most famous moments was his march on Washington with his "I have a Dream Speech." Not every one gets the day off thankfully I did. I was planning on cleaning a number of things.. what did I end up doing? Crafting for 6 glorious hours. My hands are a little sore but it was so worth it. :D

I took this time to make cards for the CAS-ual Friday challenge. Twice now I've missed the deadline. Kinda a bummer when you put that work into something for a specific reason and you've missed the deadline. Not this time though. :D

Highs and lows aka.. scallops. I made a card awhile ago using a makeshift scallop. I thought I would so the same again. Here's my card.

I'm very happy with out it turned out.. I just love that color combo. The yellow is patterned paper. The thanks was stamped with brown ink but it came out gray.. no idea why but I like it. A "Happy accident."

Here is some of what I used:

The card is the matching HA soft pool layering paper. The sentiment is from Close to my heart for every occasion. The embossing powder is Aegean Silver by Judi Kins.
