Yippee!!

There is a fun surprise coming on Sunday. I am not gonna tell you what it is you'll have to come back to see for yourself. (And no it's not an April fools joke)

In expressing my excitement I thought I would show you the card I made for my brother in law, Dev. His birthday was this past Saturday. Here is his card:

I colored with copic's and added some spots for more details. I used a ton of markers for the shading and  freckles. Like always I have the exact ones used written down but not with me. Not that you need the exact numbers, you should make do with what you have. For the blue one it was something like b00, b01, b02 and b04. (The last one was for the darkest shades.) The little dots are B69 something like that. I also used 0, and some darker green markers to make dots in the green monster. I put glossy accents on all the eyes to give them a bit of life however that doesn't show up in the picture.

Here's what I did use:

Come back on Sunday for the exciting post :D

As I'm in a good mood there may be some candy involved. I'm not to sure what give away though, any ideas?

Coloring pains

I made this card the other day for our Aunt Janet, she's what we call intentional family. No blood relation but she's family anyways.

The flower was a pain to color it looks good though. :D  The cloud stamp is new. You see I won a pintrest contest with Simon Says Stamp. I had on my board a number of different things and was randomly chosen to receive one item of their choice from my board. I was concerned they would choose the cheapest item and send it along. I didn't expect the most expensive item but at the same time a item that cost them 50 cents would have been a cheap shot. To my surprise they sent me this:

Which is why I love them. :D Sorry, Simon Says Stamp I gave some money to your competitor Two peas in a Bucket but in all fairness you don't sell that item. I hope to place an order with them soon, but now that Stamp Fever can get just about anything I'm not to sure when that will happen.

Like always I wrote down the Copic's used and didn't bring that paper with me. Sorry.  (You shouldn't be tied to the colors I used anyways.)  Here's most of what I used:

Gotta run it's a busy week.

Spring!

Folks in these parts are excited for spring. For the rest of the states I can see why, change in weather... pretty things growing. Here in so cal, not so much. We're still in the non summer period and nothing's changed. :D As stated yesterday with spring comes a number of family/friends birthdays. Here's the first of a few birthday cards:

The more I look at the more I like it, but I'm not sold. I had something entirely different planned however this is what was created.  Here's what I used:

The only thing not included in the above list are the Hero arts gems. For copic's the left flower was with R22, R24, R27, R29 with some E's in the center (I didn't write those down). Off the top of my head it was E15, E17 and E really dark like 79. The right flower (has the same center) R20, R22, and R24. The green was done with G07, G09 and a YG I don't remember which. Sorry.

It feels good to get back to crafting. I missed it. :D

It's been a week?

Wow, where does the time go?

I've been doing more behind the scenes stuff as of late:

My classes went great, at least that's what I've been hearing. Not the biggest turn out but it was on the same day as the stamping convention so I'm grateful I had the few that I had. My next class is on the 14th :D I'll have samples ready soon. The same day as my class was the Lawn Fawn Birthday Party. Not only did I get to met Mrs. Kelly Marie herself but I got to hang out with her. I kept it together and did not geek out. (I should have been an actress :D)

My first project, with a little back ground history:

When we were looking for a place to live we decided on a two bedroom the extra being for Dk's school stuff/desk. We fell in love with our current place and moved in (That was 3 years ago). Our place is great...although there are some draw backs to a 3 story town home. Once he graduated I said move over stud muffin I'm moving in! (Crafting at the kitchen table is no bueno, at least not in our uber small dinning area) I took over the built in desk. :D The room is still 3/4 him but I do have a small section.

One of the draw backs to having a 3 story place, at least with ours, is the laundry is on the bottom floor with the living areas on the third. The fortress, previously known as Dk's fortress of solitude, being next to the laundry became over run by the laundry. We paused to actually clean the room up. Which meant I had to put stuff away and we put up the shelves we got DK almost a year ago. It's looking good! Yea for spring cleaning.

Project #2
I finally got my Copic bag set up, very happy about that. While at the scrapbooking convention we (Gina and I) stumbled upon this bad boy:

It's a bag designed to carry your Copic's in their Copic containers. I got a thumbs up from DK to get it. The booth had sold out of the 72 marker cases so I could only get the bag and figured I'd head over to Art Supply Warehouse some time in the near future. Of course I never quite made it.

We went to WonderCon this weekend. (I'm also a gamer, it's true.) Ton's of fun. Ironically of my 3 purchases 1 was for crafting. Copic was there and had the marker cases I needed. :D Here's my collection organized:

I adore this case. I can grab my markers any time and go and most importantly I don't have to decide on which markers I'm gonna want. I can just grab them all. :D Very very happy about that.

I have a ton of cards to make it seems everyone's birthday is in the next two weeks. I better get to work on those.

Break time is over

I checked out for awhile guys sorry about that.  I just needed a break really. I did this to be fun and I'd like to keep it that way.  I'll end up taking breaks sometimes. :D

A month ago (wow it's been that long) we had some out of town family join us.. well lets be honest they were here for Disneyland but since were next door we are able to see them to. :D  We found out we could buy the super cheap Disney passes for anyone regardless if they live in So Cal. How cool is that?  We bought them their passes saved them some money and were on our way... a couple weeks later Dk calls me and says "you got a plant in the mail". What? who? why? He opened it and ta da a bonsai money tree:

So cool of them. :D So I had to make them an Asian style Thank you card:

The stamps are from a Fiskars stamp set, with the exception of the sentiment... that's from Close to my Heart.

Now all I have to do is mail it. :D

More Samples

The store sells impression obsession stamps, which I adore, however most folks don't seem to want to purchase them. I volunteered to make some samples using my large paisley stamp, here they are:

This incorporates the new Hero Arts word shadow stamp  with some doodlebug twine. Let me just say that twine is awesome! Luxurious is the word I'd use to describe it.

Here I embossed with white then I took two distress stains faded jeans and broken china to fill in the white. It looks amazing. Dk sounded shocked when I told I made it. Perhaps I'll have to use this trick for my next class.

Sorry I haven't been posing as much lately. Having the light tent 2 floors away is a kink in my photographing  system.

Have a great weekend!

Pinterest FTW!

Sunday was my in-laws 45th wedding anniversary. Congrats to them! Of course Dk cooked, they choose beef stroganoff...oh man was it yummy. They gave us the option of hosting at our house or going to theirs. We opted to have it at ours. This way we were able to go all out. Here is a pic of the set table:

Kellee had suggested some sort of place setting. Thankfully I had seen something on Pinterest and decided to give it a whirl. Butterfly place cards:

So cute! Super easy to do to. I found a butterfly clip art I liked copied and pasted the photo into Word sized it to 3" square and printed. From there I cut it out and then cut in half down the center of the body. Stuck that to a piece of card stock folded in half (the body being on the fold side). Traced it, and cut it out. Ta da! I used chipped sapphire ink and stamp it with the fabulous flourish stamp from Hero Arts. They all were unique. Very happy with how they turned out.

Best wishes to the happy couple!
