Domi's Sketch

Happy Saturday! I had some extra time this week and decided to take part in a Simon Says Stamp challenge, Domi's Sketch.  For some reason I find sketches hard. Here is her sketch:

And here is my card:

I love the colors. Those flowers turned out really cool.

In the background there's a Hero Arts text stamp. Flowers are Bold blooms from Hero Arts. The yellow was stamped with a very light color of memento ink and then colored with Copics. The red and green flower stamped with memento, cottage ivy and lady bug. I don't remember where I got the butterfly's, which were colored with alcohol ink. The gems are Hero Arts. The lace is from a local Japanese market..... I just adore that lace. I'll have to get some more next time time I'm there.

Happy crafting!

A baby boy

I have a super quick card for ya. I'm help host a baby shower later this month and decided I should make mom to be a card.

The stamps are from Fiskars the paper is from Authentique Journey paper pack. Man do I love this paper. I got it at Pages from the Heart when I was their last month to check out the Hero Arts catalog.

Those of you who know me are like what?! Your helping with a shower? I've clearly stated I don't like baby showers. It's not the shower per say it the lame games that make me feel like a total idiot. I don't find any joy in trying to figure out which melted candy bar is which. That's really disgusting. I do love hanging out, eating yummy snacks and playing more intellectual games. I have no idea what sort of games will be played at this shower but I know the food will be awesome....I roped Dk in. :D

I hope you have a great weekend planned.

What's this winter you speak of?

Woo Hoo! I'm finally able to enter my favorites of favs contests... .Lawnscaping. I haven't played in ages. That life stuff kept getting in the way. I was super excited when Monday came around with it's new challenge.. I had the day off. Then I saw the challenge:

Winter?! What's that? I was born and raised in So Cal. I've read about snow, you see it on tv and stuff. Seriously one can count the number of times I've been in the snow, off the top of my head it's less than 10. I struggled with this. I don't truly know winter nor do I own any truly winter stamps. I made do with what I had and came up with this.

Let me just say I am adoring that pattern paper. Here's almost everything I used:

I used memento pens to outline the birds and the clouds same colors as above. I also sanded the polka dot.. no idea where I got them.

CFC #35

Yesterday was a holiday for some of us here in the USA it was Martin Luther King day. One of his most famous moments was his march on Washington with his "I have a Dream Speech." Not every one gets the day off thankfully I did. I was planning on cleaning a number of things.. what did I end up doing? Crafting for 6 glorious hours. My hands are a little sore but it was so worth it. :D

I took this time to make cards for the CAS-ual Friday challenge. Twice now I've missed the deadline. Kinda a bummer when you put that work into something for a specific reason and you've missed the deadline. Not this time though. :D

Highs and lows aka.. scallops. I made a card awhile ago using a makeshift scallop. I thought I would so the same again. Here's my card.

I'm very happy with out it turned out.. I just love that color combo. The yellow is patterned paper. The thanks was stamped with brown ink but it came out gray.. no idea why but I like it. A "Happy accident."

Here is some of what I used:

The card is the matching HA soft pool layering paper. The sentiment is from Close to my heart for every occasion. The embossing powder is Aegean Silver by Judi Kins.

Craft and Hobby Association Trade Show

So like all industries the crafting world has CHA a bi year convention where all the new stuff is released and shown off. I've never been one for conventions.... until now. I would love love love to go however like most conventions of this nature it's not open to the public.

What makes this convention so bitter sweet it's within walking distance of my house. Yep it's at the Anaheim Convention Center. I've put a few feelers out so hopefully a ticket may drop from above.  It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so close. I have a few options. I could wait in the shadows and tackle someone with a badge.... Smooth talk my way in... or pose as a deliver person.

Thankfully there are a couple of groups that will post to YouTube. Good news is next year I'll have the hook up and will be able to go. I'll tell you about that in March. :D

Until then I'm out of luck. As there are a number of new crafting friends flying in for this wonderful occasion I have been cleared with the hubby to feed them. Any of you out of towners would like a home cooked meal let me know. I won't be Michelin star but it will 100x better then fast food and better then the chain places. Unfortunately we don't have a spare room you could use sorry were not that cool.

All the family and friends will tell ya Dk knows what he's doing in the Kitchen. I promise I won't steal our badge when your over.

Happy weekend to ya,

Katie

Back to normal

Ahhh life is calming down.. well sorta we still have to put some of the Christmas decorations away. oopsies  It's been on my to do list for awhile now. The last few days I've been really out of it my allergies have run amuck. Today my head is much clearer. Happy Days.

Last night it was choose between crafting or putting the decorations away. I choose crafting. Not only was I able to craft I was able to craft a card for a contest! It's been months. This is for this months Hero Arts contest love hugs and kisses. Here's my card:

I did second generation stamping on the red card stock with the gear stamp for that back ground very happy with how that turned out.

Here's some of what I used:

I also used a 1.0 copic multiliner for the lines, I did use a ruler. I wasn't about to free hand it. I had spent way to much time with it to mess it up at the end. The hearts have red stickles on them. I did the one yellow gear for my hubby. I call him DK but it's actually Decay as in the process by which an atomic nucleus of an unstable atom loses energy by emitting ionizing particles. That little gear looked like the radioactive symbol so I colored it yellow.

I hope all is well with you on your end. I'm meeting with my neurologist tomorrow. As all of my tests have been normal I'm not to sure what he's gonna have me do next. We'll see.

Here's to a New Year!

er is this still on? let me blow the dust off.. Sorry about that. Crazy life.. I'm glad things are calming down. Kellee is on her way home and in theory life will be back to normal. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'd really like for life to get back to normal and to get back to entering into contests.

I did take a moment to work on some cards for the Lawn Fawn CHA catalog contest. :D The contest required certain sets to be used. I made three cards:

I used Critters in the burbs, Hats off to you, Bannerific and Plus one. I made the curtains with paper and distress stain. The crowns are colored with copic spicas (Thanks Dk for the awesome Christmas gift). The animals where colored with Copic's as for the colors.. yeah I didn't write them down. It isn't the first time and lets be honest it will happen again.

Sets here are Critters in the forest, Critters in the burbs, hats off to you and Smitty's abcs. Everything except the green stuff is colored with Copic's. The hat rack is the truck from the tree from the critters in the burbs set.

This one has been the favorite of my family and friends. That little rain drop, the bottom left makes me smile every time.  I used critters in the forest, plus one, partly cloudy and on the mend. The background rain drops, ground and the banner were colored with distress inks. Everything else was colored with Copic's.

I hope you had a great holiday and may you have a wonderful new year. :D
